Because the Revo runs both Mythtv and XBMC I tend to leave it idle with the mythfrontend running as opposed to XBMC. The reason behind this is that I have noticed the box running hotter and the fan running for prolonged durations when left with XBMC sitting idle. I have therefore now setup dirty regions […]

This howto worked with Mythbuntu 10.04. Also tested with 12.04LTS. Later releases dont kneed to worry about setting up uinput as a service as it is now in the kernel. NOTE: I have added a .txt attribute to some of these files so they display in all browsers. Remember to strip this off if downloading […]

Stumbled across grano.la at the weekend so thought I would try it out. Because the Revo is so low powered and for convenience I just leave the backend/frontend (Revo R3610) runing 24/7. Yes I know I could use BIOS wakeup events but it gets used for watching/recording TV and also for watching films and playing […]

Having been running a Combined MythTV frontend/backend plus XBMC on a Revo R3610 the time came to buy another so which one…the 3610 or the 3700. At the time I could get both for the same price albeit with a slightly smaller hard disk and less RAM (4GB in the 3610 and 2GB in the […]

OK so the audio works over HDMI and the internal wireless N card works but every time the box boots up I am ending up in the MythTV configuration mode as it can’t find a backend (this box is running as a remote Frontend only connecting to the main combined backend/frontend wirelessly) The reason for […]

By default the Mythbuntu 10.04 installation does not work when attempting to use audio over HDMI. Install the latest alsa drivers: Install Linux Alsa Driver Modules Remember to run sudo alsamixer Select F6 to switch to Nvidia and unmute the channels in there Hardware source can then be set to plughw:1,7 and audio should then work […]

Installed Mythbuntu 10.04 on the Revo (having repartitioned the disk to keep the supplied Windows 7). Works straight out of the box but no wireless. Seems that it is using the 3090 drivers but inspecting the logs they are looking for /etc/Wireless/RT2860STA/RT2860STA.dat Simply need to create a blank file and all is happy! sudo su mkdir […]
